Mariners Re-Sign 38-Year-Old; Also Played For Blue Jays In 2025
1+ min ago (336+ words) Not many players stay in or around Major League Baseball until age 38, and most have a lot more name recognition than Casey Lawrence. Lawrence only appeared in six major league games this past year, but that's six more than he saw in all of 2024. In fact, Lawrence went three straight years once without appearing in the majors (2019 to 2021) despite debuting in 2017. The journeyman right-handed pitcher came to the Seattle Mariners for his second and third stints this year, with a brief hiatus in the middle for the Toronto Blue Jays. And although he shouldn't be expected to play a huge role, he'll be back for more with Seattle in 2026, at least to start the spring. According to a report from Aram Leighton of Just Baseball, Lawrence and the Mariners agreed to a minor-league contract for the upcoming season last week....
What 4-star Jamarion Vincent's commitment means for Michigan football
11+ min ago (250+ words) Despite a regular-season loss to Ohio State, Michigan's recruiting class isn't taking any losses. In fact, after a big recruiting weekend, the Wolverines have already had success from Saturday's visits. On Sunday, Michigan flipped Baylor commit Jamarion Vincent. Vincent had committed to Baylor back in January, but the Waco (TX) prospect had been in close communication with Michigan defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan and he was up in Ann Arbor yet again this past weekend. According to the Composite, Vincent is ranked as the No. 168 prospect and the No. 20 CB in the nation. With the addition of Vincent, Michigan now has the No. 11 class in the 2026 cycle. Ever since Dorian Barney flipped to Ole Miss -- which now could be in question with Lane Kiffin likely leaving for LSU -- Michigan has been searching for another CB to add to the class....

Michigan State has decided to wash its hands of coach Jonathan Smith after just two seasons leading the Spartans" football program. According to a report from ESPN"s Pete Thamel, Michigan State plans to fire Smith on Sunday, just one day after the Spartans earned their first Big Ten win of the season with a 38-28 victory over Maryland. He signed a seven-year contract to become Michigan State"s coach before the 2024 season after the Mel Tucker era came to a messy close. Per Thamel, Smith will be owed $33 million with the departure. The Spartans finished their season at 4-8. They snapped an eight-game losing streak Saturday after wins to open the regular season over Western Michigan, Boston College and Youngstown State. Smith"s team nearly…...
Buccaneers get wild touchdown as Tristan Wirfs hauls in pass from Baker Mayfield
17+ min ago (426+ words) The Tampa Bay Buccaneers needed an offensive spark late in the second quarter, and it came from the last person anyone expected. With 1 minute and 39 seconds remaining in the half, offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs slipped into the flat and caught a 2 yard touchdown pass to put Tampa Bay up 10 to 0 over the Arizona Cardinals. That was Wirfs first career reception and touchdown, giving the Bucs a much needed lift in a half filled with missed chances. Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans know Wirfs as their All-Pro franchise tackle, but on this play, he looked like a veteran tight end. Baker Mayfield rolled out and delivered a short pass that Wirfs secured before powering into the end zone for the surprising score. Before that play, Tampa Bay's offense had been productive but inconsistent. Mayfield finished the half 11 of 15 for 117 yards and a…...
Paul Finebaum says newly hired SEC head coach ‘made a bad decision’
20+ min ago (355+ words) Week 14 and the conclusion of the 2025 college football regular season brought a tidal wave of resolutions to the very busy SEC coaching carousel. More madness is to come, but for now, it seems that Arkansas, LSU, Florida and Auburn may all have found their new head football coaches, some predictable and others very much a surprise. One of those surprises caught Paul Finebaum's eye in a bad way. To recap: Lane Kiffin is supposedly headed to LSU, and that's been a rumor floated for weeks. But in a somewhat shocker switcheroo, it was Florida, not the purported Auburn, who nabbed rising Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall after he had long been linked to the Tigers. Then, Arkansas grabbed Memphis' Ryan Silverfield to make it three American Conference coaches alongside Kiffin in this new SEC wave. On Sunday morning's episode of…...
Heat have collected a nice chunk of dollars before the real Emirates Cup gauntlet starts
23+ min ago (263+ words) Through four Emirates Cup games, Miami is 3-1 and recording the eighth-ranked defense of the tournament. Norman Powell has played in all of those and has been their MVP, logging 23.3 points per game on a 56.7 effective field goal percentage." They can still go big with Herro in the lineup, but it'll come at the expense of the defense somewhere. Aside from defense not being his specialty, Herro may not have enough reps to handle it if he gets hunted repeatedly, like the Magic could and maybe will try to do." To win the Cup, Miami would have to get through Orlando, and then the winner of the New York Knicks- Toronto Raptors matchup, to advance to the tournament Final. The Oklahoma City Thunder are playing the Phoenix Suns, and the Los Angeles Lakers are seeing the San Antonio Spurs in the…...
Will Brandin Cooks play for Buffalo Bills today?
28+ min ago (342+ words) The Buffalo Bills have been looking for the right combination at wide receiver throughout the season, and they recently threw another name into the mix. On Tuesday, they signed veteran wideout Brandin Cooks, who was released by the New Orleans Saints. Cooks played 10 games for New Orleans and had 19 receptions for 165 yards. This was his second stint with the franchise, after he was selected by the Saints in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft. RELATED: Keon Coleman expected to return to Buffalo Bills' lineup in Week 13 vs. Steelers Cooks has become a journeyman, playing for five franchises in 12 seasons. He's also had plenty of success, gaining 1,000 yards for four of those clubs. That said, he's not the same caliber player he once was, but the Bills are hopeful he can at least provide a small spark for their offense. Cooks…...
Michigan State Firing Jonathan Smith after Two Seasons
29+ min ago (564+ words) Michigan State is resetting its football program again, as the school is reportedly planning to fire head coach Jonathan Smith on Sunday, sources have confirmed to Spartan Nation. After only two seasons and 24 games at the helm in East Lansing, MSU will reportedly be moving on. The Spartans just finished the 2025 season 4-8 overall and with a 1-8 record against Big Ten opponents. It's MSU's fourth consecutive losing season, a stretch that hasn't happened since five years from 1979-83. Smith will leave with a mere 9-15 overall record and a 4-14 record against Big Ten opponents, counting the wins from 2024 that were vacated due to NCAA violations that were committed by previous head coach Mel Tucker's staff." Excluding interim head coaches, Smith is the shortest-serving head coach at Michigan State since Harry Kipke was only in East Lansing for one season 97 years ago. Kipke voluntarily…...
Aaron Rodgers remarks on Josh Allen and 'all the damn commericals he's in"
48+ min ago (462+ words) Aaron Rodgers notices it, too. It's impossible to ignore. Buffalo Bills' quarterback Josh Allen is everywhere. With the Bills visiting Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers for an important 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff on November 30, the four-time NFL MVP mentioned the current MVP's growing media presence. "I just really appreciate the way he represents the league," said Rodgers, who turns 42 years old on December 1. "I can't wait to see him and tease him about all the damn commercials he's in now. He's on the arc. He's in the superstardom stratosphere." MORE: Bills make another WR change, re-install former starter prior to Week 13 vs. Steelers The 29-year-old Allen's star has steadily grown brighter since the Bills drafted the Wyoming product at No. 7 overall in 2018. Leading Buffalo to five consecutive AFC East division titles, the dual threat field general became the only player in NFL…...

53+ min ago (822+ words) Arsenal dropped points on the road for the second straight Premier League game, drawing 11 with an undermanned Chelsea. A wrench was thrown into Arsenal's plans before kick-off with William Saliba ruled out with a knock adding to their injury concerns. Cristhian Mosquera partnered Piero Hincapi" in defence, while Viktor Gy'keres and Gabriel Jesus were both back in the matchday squad. It was a physical London derby between two sides riding momentum from recent European successes. A Mois"s Caicedo red card in the first half handed Arsenal the initiative to pick up three points, though the Blues refused to go quietly. Trevoh Chalobah opened the scoring in the second half before Mikel Merino pulled one back for the visitors. For all their possession against the Blues, the Gunners failed to make the most of their opportunity. Stamford Bridge continues to…...
